I bought the DC Direct JLA boxset just for the intention of making an Aquaman. I wanted to make a thicker broader Aquaman so I took a Marvel Legends Iron Fist, extended his arms a bit using his lateral shoulder joint, glued them in place and then sliced the lip that was preventing his arms from falling straight down. I cut off the neck/head from the DCD Aquaman and set it in place. The hook was cut off with an X-acto resulting in my worst self inflicted customizing injury yet. I popped off Iron Fist's left hand, drilled a hole into the hook and then popped it in. Then I sculpted everything else with Apoxie Sculpt and Epoxy Putty. The straps were plastic craft lace glued on.

The scales took me awhile until I finally figured out how to make them. I thought I was just gonna simply drybrush their detail on, but I really liked how DC Direct painted their recent Aquaman prototypes and ended up painting each individual scale with 4 different shades of metallic green to make them pop out. I dunno if they show up in the pics, but they look keen in real life. The pants were all glossied up because I'm one of the few that looooove gloss. Some of you may notice that the face is actually a different shade than the rest of the body, well thats because I'm too lazy to paint that small area of flesh.
