I love the DC Direct Martian Manhunter figure. It still remains to be my favorite superhero sculpt of all time. And though I felt bad cutting up such a work of art, I really really wanted a super articulated version of this guy.

The head is the beautiful DC Direct version with the neck dremeled down to the jaw line and a new hole drilled up his head. I used a Scorpion from Spider-man for the body since it's perfect height puts him in scale with the rest of the Justice League. I covered up Scorpion's grooves and rivets with Epoxy Putty and Aves Apoxie. I ended up sculpting over the waist swivel as I was sculpting the belt, but the redundant abdomen joint of Scorpion still keeps that range of motion alive. I cut off Scorpion's clawed hands right above the wrist joint and then glued in the hands from the DC Direct Manhunter figure. Then it was just a matter of smoothing the transition between the two with some Apoxie Sculpt.

The boots came from a Marvel Legends 10 Cyclops. I cut off Scorpions boots away and glued Cyclops boots instead. Thankfully the shin swivel is under the cuff in Cyclops' boot so that movement remains intact. The cape was from a Lord of the Rings figure and the collar was cut toothpaste tube. The part of the cape that rests on his shoulders is Apoxie sculpt that was blended into the cape.
