I started this bout 6 months ago when Batman Begins reignited the dork within me. I got a Marvel Legends Professor Xavier figure and sculpted the hair and scarred side of his face with epoxy putty. Then the ADD kicked in and I started moving on, starting new projects that struck my fancy.
Revisiting an uncomplete custom is usually a good thing, as I tend to approach it differently than if I would have rushed to complete it. In this case, I was never fully satisfied with Professor X's build as I thought it was a little lanky for Two Face. So I made his chest a little broader by cutting off the shoulders, making sure not to damage the pegs and crap that allow for the articulation and then setting them in place with Epoxy Putty, a little farther than than they were before. To complete the illusion of a broader frame, I ended up bulking his shoulders and legs as well.
The hands were from the parts bin. Prof X's coat was cut and glued together in the front and then sculpted his jacket lapels and the back coat and then blended them in together. One thing I'm happy for is that the coat hides Prof X's balljointed hips which I aint a big fan of. I went ahead and glued the mid thigh articulation shut and sculpted over them since they were kinda redundant and broke the overall aesthetic of the fig.
While I admit there's a huge influence from the animated series version of Two Face in sculpting his umm face, I didn't want to paint his suit black and white. So I went for a variation of his early comic appearances of the brown and purple while still keeping the symbolism of light and dark. For the longest time I had his scarred face painted in more realistic scarred tones of pink, reds and fleshy browns, but it just wasnt working. Once I had the suit painted I just had to go with the classic green face, it complements the color scheme perfectly and makes him that much more striking.
