I finally got a Magneto from the new X-men toyline and thought he would be perfect for a General Hawk. But my extreme rational mind could not justify making a Hawk before Duke. Duke is a badass. Any normal guy might die after being impaled through the heart, but Duke is such a badass hard to kill S.O.B. that he can go into a coma without even sustaining any head trauma just so he can kick some Cobra ass another day.

I ripped off Magneto's cape, skirt and weird attachment coming out of his right arm. Then I dremeled off his hair, forearms, and boots. I sculpted the new clothes, hair, and boots with Apoxie Sculpt. His belt and harness were glued on rubber bands. On top of that I glued on pouches that I cut off from a Bullseye figure. You can't see it from the pics but the top layer of the boots has a different texture, made from a sandpaper impression. The right hand comes from a Solid Snake figure to ensure he can hold his weapons properly.

I've been carefully rationing off the weapons in my fodder bin and assigning them to the Joes whom I thought would fit. I also wanted to make these accessories able to attach to the main figure to recreate one of the aspects of the GI Joe toyline that I adored as a kid. But mostly, I wanted them to attach to the figure somehow so I don't lose them. So the rifle clips unto Duke's back courtesy of a Valor vs. Venom wrist clip thingy.

The head isnt my first choice for Duke and I'm not really sold on it. It still screams General Hawk to me. And when I do make a General Hawk using this exact same base I wonder if I could make them look different with just paint. Hopefully it won't come to that and I'll have the head that I need by then.

Update 10/06: I finally got the head I originally wanted for him, a Marvel Legends Series 1 Captain America. But now I'm not so sure if it was a better choice.
