2dtoys custom TMNT Shredder action figure

I was disappointed in the midget like proportions of the new Shredder figure so I created my own from a Marvel Legends Namor figure. The multiple points of articulation seemed ideal for a ninja master.

The shirt, armor and helmet pieces were made from epoxy putty. The blades were cut from sheet styrene. When making the armor, I made impressions on the epoxy putty with the blades while it was drying to provide more stability when I glued them in. As opposed to the late 80s cartoon or the new cartoon, I based Shredder off the original Mirage Comic books, particularly the super awesome TMNT #10. Those comic books were in black and white, but in the colored covers his costume was red, like the turtles' bandanas. So it was surprising and cool at the same time seeing the live action movie had based his color scheme on that. While I do like the red pajamas, I took a little artistic license and kept his pants black.

Namor's actually quite tall so I ended up shortening the figure at the calves to make him more in scale.
