2D's custom Astonishing X-men Colossus figure

About 2 years ago Robokillah asked if I was interested in teaming up with him for CustomCon for an Astonishing X-men entry. He had created some awesome definitive renditions of the main characters and asked me to finish off the lineup. One of the characters I did was Colossus. I used a Marvel Legends Colossus, modified the costume abit and gave him a new headsculpt. He came out not so good.

Years later Toybiz eventually did the same thing and released a much better figure, but I still wanted a Colossus as he appears in Astonishing X-men. So I took my old custom and dremeled the hell out of him. I ripped out the arms out of their sockets, and dremeled the holes inside so the shoulder sockets would go in deeper. Thus giving him a narrower chest. I dremeled down his arms and legs and resculpted everything with Epoxy Putty. I shortened his legs at the calves while at the same time lengthening him at the waist, being careful so as not to lose the waist swievel, so his proportions were more like Cassaday's artwork. The fists came from an Ultimate Sabretooth figure.

The head proved difficult since Cassaday draws Petey's face with a different shape each time. So I took 2 pictures that I liked, and plucked certain facial features that I thought were cool from both, and came up with something uh...completely different. Again, not so good. The head was sculpted with Apoxie Sculpt and the seams were created with styrene strips. This whole figure coulda been done better with tons easier ways than the hell of reproportioning him, but I'm just glad that the original base figure didn't go to waste. Thanks go again to RK for his input and patience and telling me to "paint the damn thing already" hehe.
